Plenty of people have asked about documentation for MegaBBS, and I'm pleased to be able to announce that a comprehensive administrators guide to MegaBBS is well into development. The goal is to release it at the same time as the full release of MegaBBS 2.2, and to have it completely cover Installation, Upgrading and Administration (i.e. what every option in the Administrative Menus does), and maybe have a basic guide to customisation as well. It will be available as a compiled help file, and there will be an online version here on the PD9 Software site.

So far, the Installation and Administration sections are nearing completion. At this stage, I have decided to make the documentation public to go alongside the Preview Releases of MegaBBS 2.2, so that we can get feedback and corrections.

The documentation is available from Muis's website, and is updated to the latest version on an hourly basis. You can browse the online version here.

It's very nice I'll have a crack at translating it when I get a bit more time and perhaps there are others who might think of translating it to their native languages? This software is too good to only be limited to those who're fluent in English.

K, Gnark. Look again... There has been a working translation since releaseday (of the forum that is).

What was it that didn't work? Did you get an error? I have it running on two forums and both are working fine. Did you upload it using binary and not ASCII? What ftp-program did you use? (there has been some problems with this as the file now is unicode)

Can't seem to get the online documentation to work. If i click on the "Upgrade" link I eventually get a 404. I have tried several times today.

The links provided in the first post don't work anymore .

Are there plans to make the doc available again? Sorry if I missed the developments.

I'm sure the user guide will be back. I don't know why it was taken down. Maybe we should host a copy on the PD9 server.

This is great and the administrators of our forum will be appreciative. Is there a user guide for community users with little or no computer experience and no experience using forums? I'm looking for a guide that explains general use of the forum. I need a guide explaining the fundamentals of how to navigate and use the forum such as creating a thread, replying, logging in, searching the forum etc. Please help. And thank you so much for responding.

Let alone comprehensive guide, you einsteins didn't even enclose a note with a default admin login info.
Happy installing but can't use it. Why even bother releasing it.

There are three ways you can easily find this information:
- Reading the installation instructions linked to on the download page
- Reading the installation section of the help manual linked to in the first post of this thread
- Using the search function to search these forums

Since you haven't used any of these three simple - and I would have to say obvious - methods, I don't think you have the right to complain...

That would be a great idea.

If you have a copy of the user guide, then, please, put it up on the PD9 site.
