 Registration
MegaBBS 2.2 uses a keycode registration process to both remove the "Powered by" links in the footer, and to unlock special extended features for registered users. If you have previously registered a 1.x or 2.x installation, please contact us at the e-mail address at the bottom of the page to obtain your keycode. Please supply your website address, and the paypal address you used to complete the transaction!

Upgrading from 2.x
Make a backup of your database and files in case something goes wrong with the upgrade process.
1. Make a backup of your /database/constants.asp, megabbs.mdb (your database), and any
modifications you have made.
2. If you are upgrading from 1.x to 2.x, install the files into a NEW folder.
3. Run /admin/bbs-setup.asp to generate a constants.asp file. Make certain your emergency mode is on, and that you are logged in under an account with adminstrative privileges. Test your database connection,
and follow through the wizard. You will be prompted to upgrade your database.
4. Your passwords will be encrypted. This process may take some time
5. If you have a problem upgrading your database, roll back to your backup database and
backup installation and then report your problem to support.
6. Log back in after encrypting your password, and re-run the bbs-configuration screen.
7. You may want to run the "repair forum messages" to update the thread "last poster" fields. This is optional.
7. You may want to use the new features to dump your photos and attachments from the database to the filesystem. This is optional.
8. If you are running MS-Access, it might be a good idea to compact your database. The upgrade process inflates this file dramatically.
